Awards & Grants, Diabetes, HI-MAG,

Dr. Bilal Sheikh, group leader of the Young Investigator’s group “Vascular Epigenetics” at the Helmholtz Institute for Metabolic, Obesity and Vascular Research, has been selected as a Henriette-Herz Scout by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. This prestigious award will allow him to nominate three international postdoctoral researchers for the Humboldt Research Fellowship, and mentor them at Helmholtz Munich.

Bilal Sheikh established his research group in 2020 at HI-MAG. His research aims to uncover how metabolic disease impacts blood vessels, and to develop novel treatments to protect blood vessels against metabolic stress.

The Henriette Herz-Scouting-Program is part of the renowned Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. It was launched in 2020 with the aim to recruit international young researchers to Germany, and to increase the number of women in the Humboldt Foundation Fellowship program.

The HI-MAG and Bilal Sheikh look forward to recruiting, welcoming and working with the selected international postdocs over the next 5 years.

The Henriette Herz-Scouting-Program is fully funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
