On June 12, 2024, the National Strategy for Gene and Cell Therapies was unveiled at the Futurium in Berlin.

Developed by the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) at Charité on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the strategy paper incorporates insights from approximately 150 experts across science, industry, politics, and society. Federal Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger received the paper during the event, which also featured discussions and presentations, including one by Prof. Ulrike Protzer, Head of Virology at Helmholtz Munich. The strategy aims to advance socially significant progress in gene and cell-based therapies.
